Ask a questionQ & A
I always seem to ask 'why'. For example, why do bad things happen when it seems like good should happen?
Thank you so much for your question. I am sorry to hear that you are finding life unpredictable and difficult, but please do not be too discouraged. Life really is unpredictable, though it would be lovely if things always went smoothly. That's why we need to find our security in someone who does not change and who knows how to handle life. I believe that the someone we need is God Himself.
The good news is that God is willing to come into our lives and help us. He knows that we are weak and helpless without Him. Are you willing to commit your life to Him and receive Him into your life? If you want to know how to come to Him, please watch the video on the main part of our site: www.lookingforGod.com
Here is what the Bible says:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God. (1 Peter 3:18)
We deserve nothing from God except punishment for our wrongdoing, but He loves you and me so much that He gave His Son to take our punishment and die for us. If we believe in Jesus, we become God's child and all His wonderful love and power are at work in our lives. Here is part of a great prayer of Saint Paul:
I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power towards us who believe. (Ephesians 1:16-18)
God wants to reveal to you the greatness of His power towards you, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and placed Him over every other power in the universe. He is able to lead you through life, to teach you and to listen to your prayers. You may make many mistakes and you may still fail from time to time, but for the rest of your life, God will be with you and will never leave you. He will work to make you like Jesus in your character, but He will take you to Heaven when you die just because you trusted in Jesus as your Saviour, because you believe.
Through him [Jesus] we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (Romans 5:2)
In closing, I want to encourage you to get more involved with your local church. It would be good to speak to a Christian leader or someone you trust there, about your question. I know they would be delighted to help you and pray for you as you continue your spiritual journey:
