Why has God put me through such hard times? My family is broken, why hasn't he made things work?

Thank you for asking such a serious and honest question. It is clear that you have gone through some difficulties in your life, but it is our hope that you will know the power of God working in your life. It may not be that he will instantly make everything the way that we want, but we believe that in all things, he is in control.

An important and encouraging fact to know is that God loves you, no matter what has happened in your life or how far you feel you have come, God loves you because he is your heavenly Father - you were made in the image of God.

The bible tells us clearly that God the Father has a plan for your life, and he tells us that the plan is good and the best for you. He tells us of his plan in Jeremiah 29:11 saying "for I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope". We believe that by submitting to God's plans, he can begin to implement them in your life, and these plans are better than any of the plans we may try to create. For this reason, we believe it is important to follow James 4:7 and submit yourselves therefore to God. This can only begin to happen when you submit to the Kingship of Jesus over every aspect of your life especially in relationships!

I encourage you to pray a prayer to God and ask him that his will be done in your life. Ask him to fill you with the knowledge of him!

When it comes to a broken relationship, we must remember that although God knows all things, and nothing is outside of his knowledge, we have been given the responsibility of our actions. God cares about our relationships; He is himself Father, Son and Holy Spirit in perfect unity! When we form relationships it is important to include Him in the matter, but sadly, sometimes human relationships end. God the Father loves us and created us with the freedom to choose to follow His rule or not, He doesn't want us to be like robots and as such we live with the consequences of our decisions. This does mean that things may happen in our lives that we cannot explain right now, but we also believe that God knows all and may even be teaching us something through our experience. As Psalm 147:5 tells us great is the Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limits.

The Lord is the only one who can help us in our troubles!

The bible contains many verses about God's strength, and that through His strength, we are able to continue in our life. God tells us in Isaiah 41:10 "fear not, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my right hand". His strength is over all and we can call on Jesus the Son of God to help us in our trouble. If we trust Him, He won't let us down!

As Psalm 55:22 tells us cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved. Jesus echoes this by saying in Matthew 11:28 “come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”. Similarly, 1 Corinthians 10:13 can encourage us when it tells us that no temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. In the bible, the original Greek translation for ‘tempted’ can also be translated as ‘tested’. For this reason, God will not let us be tested beyond what you can bear, but has provided a way for you to overcome it. It may be that God is trying to teach you perseverance. James 1:3 makes this clear, by saying that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness, meaning that when difficult times come, we can spiritually get stronger and remain close to God.

Whatever our physical, social and economic conditions God has help for us. When we believe and turn to Jesus, submitting to His Kingship, He will be with us forever, and make a place for us that is everlasting and sure! Unless we have a true relationship with God the Son, we cannot know the Father - this is the most important relationship! Unlike earthly relationships, our relationship with God can always be repaired through accepting and trusting in Jesus the Son and what He did on the cross for you!

In summary, bad things happen to all people, but it is our hope that you know God's power working in your life. God, being our loving heavenly Father, wants to help us during our difficult times, not necessarily taking them away, but through them he is able to teach us something powerful. As Romans 8:28 says all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
