Ask a questionQ & A
I have heard the phrase "from surviving to thriving", but what does it mean?
Thank you for asking this set of questions. I will aim to answer each one in this reply and also link to some previous answers that we have made on similar questions.
Your first question is a unique one to the site. It is hard to answer fully without knowing more context behind what you mean by surviving and thriving. I guess you have heard this statement somewhere and want to know more about it.
Some people in the world are only 'surviving'. Their existence consists of going from day to day and not knowing where their next meal will come from. This must be a very difficult life. OR it could mean that some people are surviving on a low spiritual life and not really getting the most out of life. To go from this to thriving would involve knowing that God is with you no matter what is going on. Being able to rejoice always:
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
Regarding seeking God there are some different answers to this question.
Firstly it says in the Bible that no one seeks for God (Romans 3:11). If someone is thinking about God then it means that God is already working in their life and is revealing himself to them.
The issue is that we all do things wrong against God that separate us from Him because he is perfect and Holy. We cannot seek God unless he reveals himself to us.
When this starts to happen then it becomes irresistible and we want to know more about God. This is when it is good to read the Holy Bible and join a local Church of other people who are also keen to follow God. God knows what is best for us in our lives and so wants us to follow and seek Him.
I do hope this general answer to your question goes some way to helping you find peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord. If you want to know more about what Jesus has done for you please watch the video on the main part of our site: www.lookingforGod.com
In closing, I want to encourage you to get more involved with your local church. It would be good to speak to a Christian leader or another trusted church individual regarding your question. I know they would be delighted to further answer you as well as offer prayer and support as you continue your spiritual journey:
