What is the date and place of birth of Esau?

Thank you for this question regarding the date and place of birth of Esau.

Sadly no certain information exists to fully answer this question. The book of Genesis tells us that Esau's father lived in the general area of what later became known as Judea before his twin sons were born, Isaac and Esau. It is likely that Esau was born in Judea or the general vicinity.

With regard to the date of the birth we can only make a rough estimate based on the face that his father and grandfather lived probably in the period 2000 - 1800 BC. Greater accuracy is not possible due to the Bible leaving gaps in the chronology of the period.

In summary we believe Esau would have been born in or around Judea around 2000-1800BC. You can read about this time period in Genesis 24 to 36.
