Question

How do you get someone to know Jesus Christ?

Answer

Thank you for this great question. This is the reason that LookingForGod.com has been set up: to help people come to know Jesus Christ.

If you watch the introduction video on the main page of the website it will explain a few things:

  1. God loves us
  2. We have sinned against God
  3. Jesus died for that sin
  4. Jesus rose again to give us new life.

If someone believes these things then they will come to know Jesus Christ.

A Bible passage that helps explain this is Romans 10:

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame"...For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:9-13)

This part says if we believe that Jesus died for our sin and rose again then we need to call on him and be saved. It goes on to say:

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!" But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?" So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ (Romans 10:14-17)

The way God wants people to know Him is by other people telling them about Him. It is our job as God's people to tell people about God

This can also be found at the end of Matthew:

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20)

I want to therefore encourage you to first consider if you are a Christian and if you have made peace with God through Jesus. If you have then please be prayerfully aware of the need to share the Good News with others. Be sensitive. Be kind. Tell people about Jesus in the way that Jesus would have acted.

Also recognise that God Himself must work in their hearts through the Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches that all of humanity are dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1), and we need the Holy Spirit to show us our condition before we can accept the Gospel. Pray, therefore, as you speak to people that God will send the Holy Spirit into the hearts and minds of these people to open their eyes to their spiritual condition, and to enable them to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord.

I hope this answer helps you to find peace with God through Jesus Christ. If you want to know more about what Jesus has done for you please watch the video on the main part of our site: Watch the video
