Ask a questionQ & A
I have serious issues with content on the Internet and I find it difficult to believe that God will always love me. Will he always be there for me?
Thank you for sharing your situation and asking some important questions.
Firstly I do want to state that it says that God will forgive anyone who asks for forgiveness through Jesus Christ. The Bible says:
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
The fact that you are aware of your issues shows that you are aware of the wrong you are doing against God and that God is at work in you, convicting you of it and calling you to turn back to him. Each time we do something wrong we should turn back to God and know that he will forgive us.
Jesus' death on the cross was to cover all the sins of his people. The sins we have done and will do. It says in Romans 10:13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
We must also be aware though that if Christ has forgiven us he also gives us a helper so that we can live a new life apart from the sin that he died for. The helper is called the Holy Spirit. He is given to the Christian to help and guide them through life and as a promise of the new life to come in heaven. If you continue to sin and do not have a changed life then it may be that you have never truly trusted in Jesus for forgiveness. I say this to warn you to check where you are with God.
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless indeed you fail to meet the test (2 Corinthians 13:5).
Practically I would encourage you to avoid using the internet when you are alone, get an accountability partner at a local Church who you can also talk these things through with. Perhaps get some internet safety software where you can ban specific websites or content that you struggle with.
God loves you so much that he sent his only Son to die for you. Try and look at the bigger picture. This life is so short to waste; eternity is forever. Jesus died for you to have life.
I do hope this general answer to your question goes some way to helping you find peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord. If you want to know more about what Jesus has done for you please watch the video on the main part of our site: www.lookingforGod.com
