How can I become a daughter of God?

Thank you for contacting us with your sincere question. It is perhaps the most important question that you will ever ask and it is a privilege for me to answer it.

When we read the Bible, we find that many scriptures refer to 'the sons of God.' This is an inclusive term and includes God's daughters. Both God's sons and daughters are His heirs and inherit His Kingdom and His promises. (Galatians 4)

God made this world and everybody who lives in it, including you and me. He loves the world that He made and He loves you dearly. He wants you to be His child.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

To become a daughter of God is simple but it requires a life-changing commitment to make Jesus Christ your Saviour, your Lord and your only hope of eternal life.

We human beings have all disobeyed God's commands and fail to live up to the standard that God sets. We are often selfish and self-centred, failing to keep His command to live a life of perfect love. The Lord Jesus summed up God's commands to us.

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself." (Matthew 22:37-39)

We are all failures:

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

However, Jesus the Son of God came into the world to die for us and bring us back to God.

He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:11-13)

Confess to God that you know that you are a sinner who has broken God's laws. Tell Him that you believe in Jesus as your only hope of forgiveness and eternal life and invite Jesus Christ into your life. He gives to all who receive Him the power to become a child of God. Thank Him that He has given you the power to become His own daughter. Thank Him for giving you forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus, who died for you.

The Lord Jesus said,

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat (stay) with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)

On the basis of your faith and the promises of God, you are then a daughter of God. He has forgiven you and come to live in your heart and life. Everything will then be different, because He changes everything. You will find that you know Him and love Him and you will begin to experience His help and guidance; all the promises of God now belong to you.
