I want to believe in Jesus I want to know what it's like, I want to know his presence but I have trouble trusting in him. I am young but I want to be a big believer. I have read bits of the bible and I don't understand it. I don't go to church but want to talk to someone about it.

Thank you for your wonderful question. I am so glad that you want to know Jesus for yourself. I am happy to tell you that it is possible for you to come to know Him today, and to hear Him speaking to you through His Word, the Bible. I was a fifteen year old girl when Jesus came into my life, even though, like you, my family did not go to church and I hadn't been taught much about Him.

Even though you do not understand God and the Bible very well, He knows all about you and He loves you. He wants you to come to Him and be part of His family. In fact, Jesus promised,

"Whoever comes to me I will never cast out." (John 6:37)

God loves you so much that He gave His Son to die for you, so that your sins against Him and against other people could be forgiven. The bible tells us that Christ died for your sins (1 Corinthians 15:2). When He rose from the dead, He triumphed over death and hell forever. Our biggest enemies were defeated and, because of Jesus, we can know God and live in Heaven with Him forever.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

So all you have to do is recognise that you are a sinner, believe in Him and receive Him by faith as your Lord and Saviour. Just ask Him!

You can find out more about what Jesus has done for you by watching the video on the main part of our site: You will also find a prayer which you can use in order to invite Jesus to come into your life.

I think it would help you to find a church and get involved there, even if the rest of your family do not go. You would soon make friends there and you could talk to the minister or to someone else there whom you trust. I am sure they would be delighted to talk to you about your question, as well as offer prayer and support as you continue your spiritual journey. Some churches are more helpful than others, and it might help you to find the right one if you look at

When I was a teenager, I also found that I did not understand the Bible. I decided simply to read it and to believe what it said. I still had questions, but I found that I began to understand it and to hear God speaking to me through it. The Bible is a spiritual book and can only be understood through faith and prayer. As you continue to seek God, you might find it helpful to do the same, perhaps starting with the Gospel of John and asking God to speak to you and help you understand it. You will also hear it explained if you join a church, which is one of the reasons that going to church is so helpful to us in following Jesus.

To sum up, remember that God loves you and that Jesus is waiting to become your Saviour and friend. Jesus says,

'Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.' (Revelation 3:20)
