Question

Why are there no cats in the Bible?

Answer

Thank you for asking a question.

You are right to say that there are no cats mentioned directly in the Bible. There is no reason why they should or should not be mentioned. The Bible is an accurate account of God's relationship with his people over thousands of years. It appears that there has never been need to record man's interaction with the cat, indeed, there are many other animals that are not mentioned.

However, it does indirectly mention them when it says that God created all things and creatures:

And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good (Genesis 1:24-25).

If the Bible were to mention by name every animal that God created then it would become a massive encyclopaedia. It does not mention every different animal by name.

It may be that you are wondering if there are some negative reasons that the Bible does not include cats and again there is no reason to believe this.
