Why has God created us when he could make something different?

Thank you very much for your question. It is encouraging to note that you are aware that God did indeed create us.

The Bible tells us that He not only created us humans, but he also created everything else or, at least, the raw materials for everything else which has since been made by his creations! This is confirmed in the first chapter of the first book of the Bible, in Genesis 1. It is also confirmed in the New Testament in John 1:1-3, that we, and everything else, were created by God through His Word, Jesus Christ His Son.

So in this sense God did make many, many things that are different from us and from each other. The one thing that everything has in common is that its initial origin can be traced back to having been created by God through His Son.

Once God had created everything, we are told that it was all very good. Man was created in God’s image for a relationship with God, and to tend and rule over God’s other living creations in the Garden of Eden. The only thing that was not good was that man (Adam) did not have a suitable helper, so he made a woman (Eve) to partner him in everything.

God is a holy and just God of love, and gave mankind everything they needed to thrive and flourish in love and harmony with God and with each other. God told Adam that the only thing they were not to do was to eat the fruit from one particular tree, the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Gen 2:17).

Up until this point everything was indeed rosy in the Garden, and man was indeed different then, because they were innocent and without sin and still in the living, loving relationship with the great God who had created them.

In Genesis 3 things change when Eve chose to believe the lies of Satan in the form of the serpent, and tasted the forbidden fruit, and then shared it with Adam. As soon as that happened man became different. Sin had entered human flesh and remains in every man born of woman since then.

The only exception was when Jesus was born. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit but born of woman (Mary) and lived a uniquely sinless life as a man of flesh yet simultaneously as the Son of God and as God the Son. When Jesus died on the cross He was still sinless, so He died in the place of anyone who is prepared to believe in Him and to give their sin to him. Their sin then dies with Jesus. God knew all of this was going to happen before he created anything, yet he still made us as we are.

We each have a choice to make. Either to remain as we are, still following the lies that satan would have us believe, and then die in our sins, or, to repent of our sin and to turn to Jesus who is the only antidote. If we do this and trust him, then we will become different. We become a new creation, and gradually grow to be more like Jesus, and then when we die we are once again reconciled with the God who created us.

This is the amazing truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As to why God has planned things this way and made us as we are, we will not know that this side of heaven. As we read from Isaiah 55:8-11: "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it".
