Ask a questionQ & A
Will my future love come to the place I presently live in?
Thank you so much for your great question, though I need to tell you that it I suspect that it is the wrong question to be asking.
I remember as a child living in England in the 1960’s, that whenever our small family went on vacation to the seaside, my mother would always take time to slip away and see some ‘fortune teller’, who, for a small fee, would gaze into a crystal ball and reveal her future, which always seemed to involve some tall, dark stranger who would come into her life and, well, you get the picture.
We all want to have a good reading of our future life, yes, we all want a fulfilling of the deep longings and dreams of our heart.
So then, will your future love come to the town you presently live in? Well, who can tell? Certainly no fortune teller can tell you this and no Christian acting like one can tell you this either: for only God knows the answer to this question and in my experience, He rarely reveals such things. Indeed, in the Scriptures I believe He only revealed this but once and that was to a searching servant looking for a wife for his masters son, Isaac. (See Genesis 24:7-21)
May I suggest that the right question to ask might be this: “Will God help me to become a worthy person for a most honourable spouse?” I believe the answer to that question would be yes! However, and here is the wonder and excitement of it all, the outworking of this answer is a journey that you and God will embark on together, and where three parties are involved, that’s God, you, and the people who come into your life, who but God knows what the outcome will be?
In summary then, I encourage you to keep praying, to keep close to God and to enjoy the journey of your life with an open hearted expectancy for who knows who might turn up and change your life forever. And when that person comes, who knows if will you go with them?
This is the journey of life. Enjoy your ‘nows’ with God as your future unfold before you according to His good and perfect will for you.
