Ask a questionQ & A
I recently watched a video online about satan that made me feel uncomfortable and aware of the presence of evil. How can I get rid of this feeling?
Thank you for your question. The internet is a wonderful tool which can do a lot of good, but it also can create a lot of problems and has a lot of dark parts linked to satan and the satanic bible. I want to encourage you that God can heal you of this and advise you to stay away from such things.
It is good that you are asking for advice on this subject. It shows that you are spiritually aware of the battle that is taking place. Consider this verse:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
Christians are in a battle with the evil spiritual forces in the world. We need to be aware of it and stand against it.
Prayerfully put on the armour of God each day. Pray for God to protect your mind and your heart. Also if you are having negative thoughts consider these verse:
For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).
This verse encourages us to take captive our negative thoughts and destroy them.
Also this verse in Philippians encourages us to think about godly things:
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you (Philippians 4:8-9).
When a negative thought comes into your mind, meditate on this verse and think about it until the negative thought has passed. Consider the wonderful things God has done for you. Pray, pray, pray!!!
Some time ago I watched a horror movie on the TV and it caused me to have negative thoughts for quite some time. I spoke to my Church leader about this and we prayed. The effects got less over time and eventually went away.
Also practically speaking I want to encourage you to look into getting some internet software that will block dangerous websites and some videos. They can work well however they are not always 100% accurate. Therefore I also want to encourage you to stop looking into these things completely. We believe that God can give you the strength to help you.
I do hope this general answer to your question goes some way to helping you find peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord. If you want to know more about what Jesus has done for you please watch the video on the main part of our site: www.lookingforGod.com
