Ask a questionQ & A
Is there any word from God, any prophecy for the place where I live?
Thank you so much for your spiritual enquiry about prophecy and hearing from God.
There is no doubt that God gives specific ‘words,’ that is: declarations; instructions; hopes; and commands for specific people and places. The Bible contains hundreds of such words.
"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgement than for you. And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgement than for you." (Matthew 11:21-24)
"And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write, 'These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life: I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.'" (Revelation 2:8-11)
However, LookingforGod has not been commissioned by God to deliver personal words of prophecy. Therefore, I recommend that you personally seek God in prayer and fasting and ask Him to give you those very particular insights you desire regarding the place where you live.
You could also speak to your church leaders in your location to see if they are aware of some very particular words that God may be saying to the people and your town and if not, then see if they are willing to connect with other people who are a prophetic gift to the church, that they might come and meet with you all in prayer to discern if God has anything so very particular to say.
I would suggest more importantly though, that God has already said some very specific words from the Scriptures to the people in the area in which you live and especially to you who live in that area. Indeed, there is a confirmed word of prophecy which applies directly to your place of abiding! Here it is:
Jesus is the only Son of God, the morning star risen in your darkness and waiting to rise in your repentant hearts. Look to Him! Listen to Him.
For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received from God the Father honour and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts (2 Peter 1:16-19)
The very specific word from God is for all people in all areas everywhere!
I need to say to you as well that very specifically then, from the Scriptures, God has commanded you to go and preach the Gospel to your neighbours and make disciples of Jesus out of them. Are you doing this?
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)
In summary, I would say that the sure words of prophecy we already have in the living Word of God, the Bible, has more than enough to say on specific grounds for both us to act upon and for hearers to respond to. Of course, also seek God for yourself and with the company of other Christians through your local bible believing Church.
