Ask a questionQ & A
Why does God leave me in pain? I've been searching for a job for a long time. Why hasn't God given me a job?
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am so sorry to hear that you are in pain and struggling to find a job. However I do not believe it is God's fault that you do not have a job. God has told his people that is important to work but He is not responsible for our actions nor is God responsible for the employer's actions that may not be giving you work.
Consider these verses:
Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labour, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need (Ephesians 4:28)
If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living. (2 Thessalonians 3:10-12).
Here we see God speaking through the Church to those who do not want to work. This is not your issue, as you clearly do want to work, but I am using these verses as examples. Please also understand I am not calling you idle or a thief! It is clear from these scriptures that God commands that we should work if we are able but it is also not his fault that you can not find a job.
Instead of blaming God, why not use this time to explore who God is and what he has done for you? He has given you life, and a way to have eternal life through Jesus Christ. Jesus died to forgive us the wrong we have done. Jesus gives new life to all who call on him. Work will not ultimately give you contentment and satisfaction, but God can. Instead of blaming God for not having work, pray for him to give you peace in any situation you may face.
We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:20-21)
Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life (Jude 1:21)
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you (2 Thessalonians 3:16)
In summary, God is not to blame for you not having a job. God has called us to work and to provide for our family and loved ones. I encourage you to spend this time to continue searching for a job, but also to spend time with God. Read your bible and pray that you would know the wonder of God in your life.
