Ask a questionQ & A
What is life? Why did God create us only to destroy us in the end? Why are sins and evil so powerful?
Thank you for your great set of questions and I hope to answer them all from a Christian point of view in this one answer. Firstly I believe that God has revealed his plans for the human race to us through the Bible. I will use the words found in the Bible to answer this question.
It says at the beginning that God created man in his own image.
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them (Genesis 1:26-27).
Humans were made to know and enjoy life with God; life is ultimately found in knowing God. This is partly why the website lookingforGod.com exists; to introduce people to their creator God.
Sadly, humanity's relationship with God has been corrupted. Our first forefathers disobeyed God and turned away from Him and their desire to do wrong then became built into human nature. This is called sin and because God is Holy and perfect He cannot be around sin or let sin go unpunished.
Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned (Romans 5:12).
This is why Jesus came to earth. He is fully God and fully man. He lived a perfect life. On the cross Jesus took the punishment for our wrong, so that we can be made right with God through faith in Jesus' life, death and resurrection.
Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us (Hebrews 10:19-20).
Sin and evil are powerful. They separate us from God. They are so powerful that Jesus had to die to conquer them for us.
God will not destroy or punish anyone who has been made right with him through Jesus. Can I urge you to turn away from sin towards God through Jesus? I would like to encourage you to read the book of Romans in the Bible as it will answer many of your questions. You might find that speaking to someone from your local church is helpful.
We can know with full assurance that we can be set free from sin's power because of what Jesus has done. We can also know that we can go to heaven and be with God in perfect unity as he intended because of Jesus.
