Question

God is infinite, a complete entity and this entity is love. The love of God is infinite. Being complete, God does not have or need a son. By veiling this truth, aren't churches undermining the infinite God?

Answer

Thank you for your very interesting set of statements and question. In many ways I agree with what you have said: God is infinite and it is impossible for us to ever fully comprehend Him. God would not be God if simple humans could understand Him.

I agree with you that God is infinite and that God is love. It actually says this in the Holy Bible: Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:7-8).

The question I would challenge you with is this: If a solo-God existed before anything was created, how could he love or know love without having anyone or anything to love?

Christians hold a view that is revealed in the Bible that God existed before anything as One Being yet with three persons, in the Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They have lived eternally in perfect love and unity.

God has revealed this to us through the Scriptures and through His Son Jesus Christ. The Churches do not hide or veil anything but seek to share how amazing and loving God truly is.

The passage in 1 John goes on to say: In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins (1 John 4:9-10).

God loves us so much that he sent his Son Jesus to die for the wrong that we have done. He made a way for us to know God again.

Consider these Bible verses:

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs (Hebrews 1:1-4).

I would also challenge your statement by asking how do you know anything about God? How has he revealed this to you? We can only know what God has revealed and then it is not for us to question Divine revelation. Rather, it is our joy and privilege to accept it even when we cannot comprehend its full significance.

In summary, the Bible tells us that God is One Being in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As these three existed co-equally in eternity past, they loved each other. It is out of this love that God created and out of this same love that he chose to save us from our sins. I encourage you to read the Bible and discover this truth for yourself.
