I keep sinning even though I've become a Christian. How can I be delivered from sin?

Thank you for your spiritual enquiry. This is something that all Christians struggle with. The very fact that you are aware of your sin is good. It shows that God is at work in you convicting you and making you more like Jesus.

The apostle Peter uses strong language and takes an Old Testament reference of us continuing to sin when he says: For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.” (2 Peter 2:20-22)

This is powerful to show how dangerous it is to continue in sin. When someone is sinning it is impossible to be content and truly know we are right with God.

Now what about you? Are you a child of the King of Kings? If so then confess your sins to Him again; our Father who will forgive us; our Father will re-clothe us in our right mind and give us back the signs of son-ship which we have so shamefully thrown away.

From now on we must keep honest accounts of our actions with God. From now on we must bring every thought into captivity and those which are not to the honour and praise of Christ must be instantly killed. From now on we must read the Bible and then meditate on it both morning and evening. From now on we must make sure we keep good company that can encourage us in good things.

"Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy."
"Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."
Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star."
The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.
(Revelation 22:11-17)

There is hope for renewal, there is a certain hope for victory over those sins which grieve our new heart and nature. Let us always then say this in our hearts and then echo it with repenting actions: "'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’" And when we do this, we shall see that the Father's reply and the Father's response is: "But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate". (Luke 15:21-24)
