Ask a questionQ & A
What advice and chapters in the Bible could you give a young person who is looking for God?
Thank you so much for your question. It will make such a difference to your life if you come to know God while you are still young.
The great news is that God wants you to know Him and is also looking for you. One of the most famous verses in the Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) This means that God loves you and sent His Son, Jesus, to the world so that you can know God and live forever with Him. All you have to do is believe in Him.
The Bible tells us that we have a big problem - we do and think wrong things which break God's laws. Here is a Bible verse about this: All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
God loves us so much that He still wants us in Heaven with Him and so He sent His Son, Jesus, to take our punishment instead of us. Here is a part of the Bible that talks about Jesus' death on the cross: For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God (Romans 3:18).
Thank God that He did not remain in the grave but rose again and is alive to listen to our prayers and help us. You could read Romans 8:33-35, which explains that He is close to God, praying for us, and that nothing can separate us from His love.
You need to get a Bible, if you don't have one already. You could read Mark's Gospel, which will tell you much more about Jesus. You can also pray to Him and ask Him to lead you into the truth. When you are ready, you can ask Him to forgive your sins and be your Lord and Saviour. He will show you how to know God.
God can use you for great things even though you are young. There are many examples of people in the Bible that were young but God used them for good. This verse can be encouraging for young people:
Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity (1 Timothy 4:12).
It is also important for you to attend church regularly. Speak to the church leader or youth worker and ask them to help you in knowing what to read.
