Ask a questionQ & A
Where is God and how did life start?
Thank you for these interesting questions about God and life. We will answer your questions from the word of God, the Bible, which we believe is trustworthy in all matters.
Firstly: Where is God?
We believe that God is omnipresent. This means that he is present everywhere by his power. God is Spirit (John 2:42) and so we cannot physically see Him, but we can see the effect of Him at work everywhere.
Also God is specifically present in heaven:
Our God is in the heavens;
he does all that he pleases (Psalms 115:3)
and also specifically present in the life of his people and also in Christ the Son:
For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. (Colossians 2:8-10)
When someone believes that Jesus died for their forgiveness and rose again to give them new life, God the Holy Spirit comes and lives inside a person of faith. This is to help them live for him and a promise of the new life to come.
To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27)
Secondly: How did life start?
The Bible teaches that God created life:
And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.” So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.
And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them (Genesis 1:20-27).
Sadly man did not live according to God's way and we were separated by him because of sin (Romans 3:23). Sin leads to death (Romans 6:23).
Jesus died and took the penalty that we deserve in his body on the cross (Romans 4:25). Jesus took our place to make us right with God. If we trust in him then our life begins again as a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). I want to challenge you to consider this and start to follow Christ. Turn from your sin and follow Jesus.
